Tidbits

 I always love to see the odd pictures that Jenny Murray snaps between "official" shots that she does for our website and ads.   A couple weeks ago, she was in for a holiday shoot.  (Hopefully, one or more of her photos will be featured in the upcoming issue of AmericanStyle Magazine.)  We scrambled to make one corner of the shop look like Christmas for a few hours.  This was a bit tricky.  I didn't realize just how Autumn-Halloween-ish the shop is this time of year, until we needed to avoid having orange in the background!  At the end of the day, we put the antique ice skates, handmade Santas, vintage ornaments and more away - until the first week of November.  In the meantime, here are a few of the non-christmas photos Jenny snapped that Sunday.

 

Jenny used the word "tidbits" when describing what we have at FOUND.  I like that word.  We DO feature fun, little tidbits of a lot of different goodies. 

Like watch parts and milk caps, in FireKing bowls above.  Or funny dogs with hats. sitting in the drawer with anagrams and scrabble pieces.  Tidbits.

Little felted birds

There's lots going on behind the scenes, getting ready for our early November switch-over. Found more great vintage stuff to go with snowmen and birds wearing funny hats!   I'm enjoying this beautiful fall weather  - perfect to Bri-wax sleds and old wooden skiis in my garage.

Tomorrow morning our big annual antique/vintage sale begins and I'm brandishing a marking pen and red dots!   The hall is filling up with things that are 70% off til the end of October as we clear things out to make room for the November switch over for the holidays. 

All old stuff inside the shop is 20% off, but we're  filling the hall with serious deals -  whooping  70% off !

I promised in the email yesterday that I'd post some photos - here's a quick sample of what is in the hall right now.  More will be added!

That's just a quick peak at what will be in the hall when we open at 9 on Wednesday morning.  There are also old doorknobs, all the cool leftover clock spring do-hinkies we had hanging in the windows and I used about 200 red dots on various paper packs and other stuff.

 

While all vintage stuff in the shop is on sale during the 2 1/2 weeks, EVERYTHING in these photos is part of the 70% off sale - shop early for best selection!

Recycled frames from FoundRe Furnishings

 

The back wall at FOUND is now filled with unique frames, handcrafted by Raun Meyn at FoundRe Furnishings of Chicago.  He seeks out old doors and other salvaged wood with interesting textures and colors to remake into frames of all sizes.  Any chippy paint is sealed in with a high quality linseed oil and polyurethane lacquer. 

 

They take pride in the pursuit of finding and reusing discarded building material and giving it new purpose.  Most of the material used in the frames comes from urban demolition sites and salvage supply companies in Chicago.  We applaude the result!

FoundRe frame + photo = a great personalized gift.

We've reordered the smaller sizes already.  I knew these would be popular!

Halloween whimsies and autumn candles

Potpourri and a great assortment of candles in solid colors, fun stripes and Beeskep beeswax candles.   I just love fall colors on my dining room table.  Candles are a nice, affordable luxury that make every meal special.
