We flew home from Paris yesterday. On the plane, I took time to jot down a summary of what we did each day, lest the last 10 days disappear into a blur of one adventure-filled day after another....
I stopped at FOUND this afternoon to pick up some of the bookwork I need to catch up on and check on how things went while I was away. I'm reminded of how grateful I am to have such a wonderful group of people on my staff (2 of whom went with me to Paris). With Andrea in charge, more things were listed on-line, blog posts and a newsletter were composed and everything ran smoothly. I could have stayed away longer (maybe I will next time)!
Last night, I showed my husband and son all the digital photos I took on the trip. Many of the photos are marginal, out of focus "duds", but there are definately some "keepers" that capture much of what I loved about Paris.
Evenings at the apartment were filled with French food and great conversation.
Days were packed with sightseeing and shopping.
Even in January, there were flowers outside at the markets.
There were dozens of cafes within a 6 block walk of the apartment. Outdoor seating was heated with overhead lamps. Shops filled with pastries, wine, cheese and more lined the street.
The 1960's Chegall ceiling at the Paris Opera House added a "modern" touch to this opulant building. While most of the tours were in French, we were able to sign up for a facinating english tour here. And another one at the d'Orsay museum. Next time, I'll look into more museum tours - I get so much more out of the exhibits that way. The little headsets are also helpful.
I had hoped to eat at the Orsay in the upper level cafe, overlooking the huge clock at the old train station turned impressionist museum. That floor is closed for renovation, as is the Picasso Museum.
They made excellent use of the space. Love this curved ceiling!
Clocks are everywhere in the city.
Reminds me that it's time to stop for now. More later!
Regards,
Mary
